The Redemption of Reality Television

I have mentioned before what crap I take for working in reality tv. Especially from the documentary film world. They pretty much think that those of us who work in reality tv are the ambulance chasers of non-fiction storytelling. A few years ago, my husband and I went to some film festivals with our documentary film. We might as well have admitted to being pornographers.

Random documentary filmmaker: So, when you aren't making documentary films, what do you do?
Me: I write and edit reality tv.
Random documentary filmmaker: Oh.

But times they are a changin'!

Pursuit of the Truth is a new competition reality series where - you guessed it - documentary filmmakers compete for the grand prize to get their film made. HAHAHAHAHAHA! I don't know why this makes me laugh so much. And it's being produced by Go Go Luckey Entertainment, a very well known reality tv production house here in LA.

So there you go: the ultimate irony. Now we can watch documentary filmmakers grovel to get their projects produced on reality tv.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'm applying.
